A record of a couple "interesting" ad placements.

1) The first quarter I placed the ads in the OSU newspaper (autumn 1991), there was a 4"x3" ad for a New Age convention that said "Bring this ad for $1 off admission!". If you cut the ad out to take it in, the God's Word ad was on the other side, and this was God's Word for the day:

2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. (NIV)

Psalm 146:3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. (NIV)

Jer 17:5 This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. (NIV)

Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

2) On May 17, 1993 I was looking through the paper and was shocked to see a display ad by the Humanist Community of Central Ohio. It was the first time I had ever seen any ad by them in the OSU paper other than a small notice of their meeting times in the classified section. The ad said (in part): "Hear The Reasons Why The Bible is Not the Word of God and is and Invalid Guide for living. Speaking will the editor of Biblical Errancy, the only national publication focusing on the errors, contradictions and fellacies contained in the Bible." Actually, you can note that their ad had a least two errors: "and Invalid" should be "an Invalid" and fallacies was spelled wrong.

After reading that ad I excitedly turned a few page of the paper looking to see what God's Word was for the day. I was astounded to see that, out of all the ads I had prepared (over 80 at the time), the ad for that day was the very one that I would have picked to counter the Humanist ad. However, I had to send the ads into the newspaper a week in advance and had no way of knowing that the Humanist ad would even be in there. It is exciting to see God miraculously at work. Here is what God used to counter the Humanist ad:

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Prov 30:5-6 Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. (NIV)

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (NIV)

Isaiah 55:8-11 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." (NIV)

Written by Paul Breneman to the glory of God. He glorified Himself by these and other miraculous works. I was thankful to just stand back and watch.
